Mission:

The mission of the Community Media Center is to enlarge the civic dialog in our area and our state by assisting individuals and civic groups with the production, dissemination, and promotion of video, audio, electronic, and print materials that they wish to share with their neighbors and communities

Vision:

To enable community members to explore and use video and other electronic communications technologies to tell their stories, learn about the diversity of their communities, and engage in dialogue that crosses political and cultural boundaries.

Organizational Values:

  1. We believe communications technologies can strengthen communities by offering individuals and civic groups an opportunity to share information about the community and, by allowing more voices to be heard, to create opportunities for cross-jurisdiction dialogue, to enhance cross-cultural exchange, to increase voter awareness of topics of importance in their communities.
  2. We believe in supporting creativity because of its role in building a vital, vibrant community and economy.
  3. We believe everyone should have the opportunity to learn how to use current communications technologies.
  4. We believe media literacy helps people interpret and respond effectively to the messages they receive in their everyday lives.
  5. We believe in upholding and protecting the First Amendment rights of citizens.
  6. We believe individuals and public benefit organizations should have affordable access to video-based communications tools to help them tell their stories.
  7. We believe that the next wave of media to capture the public imagination will be locally produced media, and that wave will help to bring new models to the position of high usage in the public eye that they deserve to occupy.
